After a short teaser with M3GAN dancingshown at the «Grammy» ceremony, Blumhouse has released a full trailer for the sequel to the 2023 horror hit.
The video gives a first and detailed look at the new killer doll, played by Ivanna Sakhno — a Hollywood actress of Ukrainian descent, previously is known for her work in «Asoka». Her character, named Amelia, is a military robotic development based on the M3GAN doll technology known from the first film.
The sequel takes place two years after the events of the original film, where M3GAN developer Gemma (Allison Williams) has already become a famous inventor who actively advocates for government oversight of AI and suddenly learns that her technology has been taken over by dangerous people. Now, in order to stop Amelia, Gemma and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) must decide whether they are ready to revive M3GAN so that it can stop a dangerous new weapon (the trailer makes it clear that they are).
Gerard Johnston returns to direct «M3GAN 2.0», as does the rest of the cast, including Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps. Newcomers include Aristotle Atari («Tricks»), Timm Sharp («Percy Jackson and the Olympians») and Jemaine Clement («What We Do in the Shadows»).
«M3GAN 2.0» will be released in cinemas on June 27, and on January 2, 2026, we will be able to enjoy a spinoff called «Soulm8te» — an erotic thriller about a man who buys an AI android to cope with the loss of his wife. The first «M3GAN» movie grossed $181 million at the box office on a budget of just $12 million, so the expansion of the universe seems to be expected.
