Microsoft is bringing Forza Horizon 5 to the PlayStation 5, but in a way that will give its competitor a «coin for a» coin.
Microsoft is extending its exclusives to PlayStation, but not without nuances. To play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5, you will need to link your Microsoft account. The requirement is confirmed in the official FAQ games. If a player links their Microsoft and PSN accounts once, they won’t be able to disconnect them — the game will require reconnecting to the same Microsoft account.
For players, this means that it’s impossible to play without a Microsoft account — even in solo mode. You can forget about cross-saving because your progress from Xbox or PC will not be transferred. And you won’t be able to access online without a PlayStation Plus subscription. Players will also not receive discs on PS5, as the game will be digital only.
Forza Horizon 5, which was released in, 2021will receive a port to PS5 on April 29. Players will receive all the same features and updates as on Xbox and PC, including thematic game updates, two expansions (Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure), user-generated content, and nearly 900 cars. The game will utilize the capabilities of the DualSense controller and also supports cross-platform multiplayer.
Microsoft imposed similar account requirements for Sea of Thieves (2018) players on PS5. The irony is that Sony itself has repeatedly tried to impose the same restrictions, but then rolled back its decisions under pressure from players. The most recent example is — Helldivers 2, Then, after a flurry of criticism, Sony removed the mandatory requirement to log in via PSN on PCs.
