Recently, the Chinese company GMKTec announced EVO-X2, which it calls «the world’s first AI mini-PC equipped with a processor AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395». AMD CEO Lisa Su even signed these PCs. Now, the company has announced that this Strix Halo chip mini-PC will be available for pre-order in China on April 7 and has announced its price.
The compact GMKtec EVO-X2 is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor that has 16 computing cores and 32 threads (Zen 5 architecture) with a frequency of up to 5.1 GHz. The chip also includes integrated Radeon 8060S graphics based on RDNA 3.5, XDNA2 NPU with 50 TOPS performance, and 80 MB of cache.
The top-end configuration available for pre-order offers 128 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 2 TB SSD. This compact system will cost 14999 yuan (about $2066). Such a high price was expected, as the EVO-X1 based on Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 was launched at $1299.99 (currently, the 32GB model costs $1029.99 on Amazon). It is worth noting that more affordable configurations, probably with 32 GB of RAM, may be cheaper.
As for the mini-PC itself, the EVO-X2 has a powerful integrated Radeon 8060S GPU. It has 40 computing units (CUs), while the Radeon 890M, the flagship iGPU of the Strix Point series, is equipped with only 16 CUs. According to the latest benchmarks from ETA Prime, in a mini-PC, this GPU delivers decent performance in 1440p games.
The company confirmed that the EVO-X2 has a dual-turbo fan cooling system with an evaporator chamber, which allows the device to operate at a peak TDP of 140W. The mini-PC also has a wide range of ports:

- 2x 40 Gbps USB-C
- 1x SD card reader
- 1x 2.5 Gbps Ethernet
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 2.0
- 1x audio jack
For wireless communication, GMKtec EVO-X2 supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth.
Details on pricing and international market availability have not yet been revealed, but this Strix Halo mini PC is expected to be available outside of China shortly after the local launch.
