The update of metadata on Steam gives us hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong will not be long in coming.
We don’t hear much about the game, so we collect information in small ways. This time, it’s the metadata update that has caused us to get excited. According to SteamDB, the game’s copyright year has been updated to 2025. Silksong also received GeForce Now support, which may indicate the expansion of platforms for the game. In addition, the categories in the Steam list were updated, which may indicate internal preparations. And all this happened on March 24.
Three updates in one day? If it were any other game, we wouldn’t even pay attention. But this is Silksong, which fans have been waiting for several years now, waiting for at least some hint of a release.
Another reason for speculation — Microsoft’s recent publication, in which Silksong was mentioned. Although it was just a small remark next to other games, fans immediately began to look for the subtext. And that’s not all: recently, a leak that hints at a June release of Silksong. If you add in the Steam update and the mention from Microsoft — is this not just a coincidence? Or is it just another one of those disappointed hopes that Silksong fans have experienced in abundance.
On the one hand, updating the copyright is a fairly routine legal change, not a signal of a release. On the other hand, the activity on the Steam list and the addition of GeForce Now support may mean that Silksong is being prepared for release in 2025.
Let us recall that in 2022, Microsoft said that all games shown at their show would be released within 12 months. More time passed, but Silksong never appeared. In 2023, Team Cherry officially announced the game’s postponement, but since then, it’s been completely silent. And now we have the first signs of life.
Now we have to wait for April 2, when Switch 2 Direct is expected to be presented. And fans are already speculating that Silksong’s release date might be announced there. It’s just a guess, but if the game was really coming out this year, we should start actively promoting it now. Meanwhile, we’re back in the same cycle: we’re grabbing Steam updates, building theories, and Team Cherry is silent. Will Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released in 2025? Well, maybe this time we’ll be lucky. Or perhaps not.
