Yesterday, HBO introduced the adult cast of its upcoming «Harry Potter» — series, and one of the six actors, as it turned out, already had a small role in the franchise (although you have to try hard to see him there).
Paul Whitehouse, who will play the role of Hogwarts Headmaster Argus Filch in the new series, is mostly known for comedy sketch shows and voice acting, but at the beginning of his career he had a cameo role in the movie «Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban». As he notes Screen RantThe actor played one of the living portraits — the knight Sir Cadogan, who appears to replace the Fat Lady when she is attacked by Sirius Black while trying to get into the Gryffindor common room.
Most of the scenes with Whitehouse were cut from the film, but deleted footage is still floating around the internet, and in one, Cadogan interacts with students outside Gryffindor Tower and confirms to McGonagall that Sirius has entered the common room.

The rest of the confirmed cast includes John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape), Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid) and Luke Tellon (Professor Quirrell). No actors have yet been cast as Harry, Ron and Hermione or any other wizarding school characters, although last year HBO reported that 32,000 children auditioned for the program.
Mark Mylod («Game of Thrones») will direct several episodes, Francesca Gardiner is writing the script, and the author of the books, J.K. Rowling, is involved in the project as an executive producer. The first season of the Harry Potter series (out of a total of seven) is due out in 2027
Previously, Gary Oldman, who played in Sirius Black’s films, expressed interest in playing the headmaster of Hogwartsand Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort)suggested that Cillian Murphy would have done a good job with his role in the series.
