If you can’t beat the bugs, change the way you perceive them. This seems to be the logic behind Microsoft’s introduction of GSOD in Windows 11.
In an announcement about the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3653 on the beta channel, the company has introduced the screen that can be seen on the cover. The new screen seems to be less flashy, with fewer words and no emojis. Here’s what Microsoft has to say about it:
«We’re introducing a new, more streamlined user interface for unexpected restarts that better aligns with Windows 11 design principles and supports our goal of getting users back to productivity as quickly as possible. We’ve simplified your experience and kept technical information on the screen. As a reminder, for Windows Insiders, this is displayed as «green screen». The update is starting to roll out to Windows Insiders in Windows 11 build 24H2 and later in the Beta, Dev, and Canary» channels.
In the build announcement, the developers also talk about the return of the Win + C combination to launch Copilot in Windows, as well as the button itself. Both options can be reassigned using the «Customize Copilot key on the keyboard» function in the text input settings. The Copilot conversation appears after you press the keys for 2 seconds. there is also an alternative combination. Click to Do is now available on Copilot+ PC:
«Click to Do can now perform smart text actions in Spanish and French in addition to English. We will continue to roll out support for additional languages in future updates. Text actions are currently available on Snapdragon-based Copilot+ computers and will be coming soon to AMD and Intel-based Copilot+ computers. Click to Do has a text action for creating a bulleted list. It is currently available in English, Spanish, and French, and on Snapdragon-based Copilot+ computers, with more coming soon for AMD and Intel» processor-based Copilot+ PCs.
Build 26120.3653 also introduced recovery of «dead» computers mentioned today with Windows 11, improvements to the on-screen speaker, a small improvement to Windows Share, and other upcoming changes.
