The pre-order charts in the PlayStation Store show that gamers are not averse to Microsoft titles. Last year, Sea of Thieves debuted on Sony, which became a top seller in the US, Canada, and the EU in just a month. The project remained in the top downloads for almost six months. Currently, two other Microsoft exclusives are in a similar situation.
In the US, Canada, and most European countries, the most popular pre-orders were Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5, with their premium versions for $99.99 topping the lists. These pre-orders are especially popular in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
Forza Horizon 5 has been a good success, being one of the most popular racing games today. It will be officially released on PS5 on April 29, 2025. At the same time, the adventure action game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be available on Sony’s console on April 17, 2025 (and for owners of the premium version — from April 15).
Sony does not comment on Microsoft’s success on its platform. However, the fact remains that gamers want more games (not just remakes), and if Sony doesn’t release them, Microsoft is stepping up to the plate. For example, this year at the presentation of State of Play had only one exclusive — the Saros action, which will not be released this year.
Microsoft is also preparing a list of games for Nintendo Switch 2, which may be released this year. Microsoft is promoting the «Xbox everywhere» strategy, and if it brings the expected profit, more third-party titles will be available on PlayStation. The company has also recently «has highlighted the» Steam tab in the new Xbox interface, which looks more like a future update than a layout.
