In a conversation with «Uncle Tony», also known as Tony Yu, CEO of ASUS in China, AMD CEO Lisa Su reported record sales of the Radeon RX 9070 XT. This is confirmed by a German retailer.
Both executives poked fun at their nicknames: Tony Yu is called «Uncle Tony», while Lisa Su — «Mama Lisa». They spoke at the AMD Advancing AI event, where the companies shared their latest developments. A lot was said about AMD Strix Halo chips, also known as Ryzen AI MAXchips that combine a powerful processor with a powerful integrated graphics card. The interlocutors also discussed DeepSeek AI and its support with these chips.
Overall, the interview itself is quite interesting and has English subtitles for those parts that were not spoken in English. Later, Tony Yu delved into the topics of Ryzen processors with 3D V-Cache and RDNA4 graphics cards. They also discussed how Lisa Su sees their launch and what to do with the shortage:
«Sure, everyone likes high-end graphics cards, but not many people can afford them. The 9070 XT has been a fantastic success. In fact, it’s the number one best-selling AMD Radeon generation in its first week of availability, 10 times more than previous generations, and we love seeing people happy. People are happy with the 9070 XT. … We are very excited about this, and we are increasing production so that more gamers can have access to them,» said the AMD executive.
Interestingly, it doesn’t mention the RX 9070 series, but many times it refers to the XT model. Perhaps the company does not consider the non-XT version important. Perhaps enthusiasts are right when they say that AMD’s only goal is to sell the top model.
Successful AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT sales confirmed by stores Their sales have not slowed down since launch, with «graphics cards selling over 100 units every day. For comparison, the NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti in the above daily statistics sold only 10. There are also more RX 9070 XTs sold than all RTX 50 cards combined.

The GeForce RTX 5090 is the best-selling of the NVIDIA range, despite its «exorbitant» price tag of over $3000. Currently, there is only one model available in the store, and the shortage continues. The latest generation AMD graphics cards have obvious problems with graphic technologies, but it seems that users are more interested in availability, price, and performance.
