Blumhouse has shown the first teaser for «Five Nights at Freddy’s 2» — the sequel to the hit 2023 horror film, which adapted the horror game franchise of the same name.
While the video game sequel was a prequel, «Five Nights at Freddy’s 2», directed by Emma Tammi once again, will return to the main characters of the first moviesingle father Mike (Josh Hutcherson), his daughter Abby (Piper Rubio), police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lale) and the formidable killer William Afton (Matthew Lillard).
The teaser begins with a poster featuring the iconic animatronic characters and then offers a close-up shot of one of them lighting up his eyes after turning on. Next, we are shown some lively scenes with a voiceover asking us: «Are you ready for the show to begin?», as well as characters already known to the viewer: Mike reads a note, presumably from Abby, saying that she «went to fix her friends», and Vanessa worriedly claims that «they are everywhere» — and is actually right, as we are then shown several threatening shots. In contrast to the world of Five Nights at Freddy’s, the sequel shows how animatronics wreak havoc on the world after leaving the walls of Freddy Fazber’s pizzeria.
An interesting point: Afton was not shown in the teaser, and this is probably due to the fact that the creators resorted to the plot of the third game, where the serial killer was imprisoned in the body of the Springtrap animatronic rabbit.
The first movie brought record earnings Blumhouse in the amount of $297 million. Given the modest $20 million budget, mixed initial reviews, and a parallel premiere at Peacock, this is a decent result. The sequel will receive priority theatrical distribution in return — the premiere of the film «Five Nights at Freddy’s 2» is scheduled for December 5, 2025.
